BlackBerry’s US launch ‘off to sluggish start’

I am not going to lie to you, we are not optimistic about the new Blackberry. The company was left to flounder while the once massively popular phone company stood by as the iPhone, followed by Android, just devastated them. We are mostly not optimistic because the iPhone and Android choices are simply hard enough to choose between making a third player a difficult task, even with the old Blackberry reputation.

Now, GomoNews reports that US sales of new BlackBerry Z10 handsets are said to have got off to a slow start, underlining analysts’ predictions that the troubled Canadian manufacturer will sell millions fewer in America than predicted. Though AT&T and Best Buy are the only retailers so far to be actively selling the handset, debuting it four days ago, the sales period now embraces the first weekend – a time when handset sales are usually more marked.

The difficult thing here was, as mentioned, it was difficult to generate buzz. The iPhone 5 and Samsung Galaxy phones are getting all the press, buzz and lines and the Blackberry just was not able to duplicate that.

I am going to once again give my advice to Blackberry if they really want to win this race. Why does a phone cost over 600 dollars? You can’t make it cheaper? No one can put a high quality smartphone in the hands of people at a decent price? Really?

The Blackberry looks like a nice phone but why would I pay the same price, or more, for a phone that you have to wait to mature including the phone operating system and app store? Let’s be frank - You’re basically asking me to pay top dollar for a phone that needs to mature. Yeah.
